MEET THE PRODUCER
Doing things differently
Martyn Rowley and his team at Buttercross Farm in Shropshire supply all of our pork products, from juicy sausages to pork collar joints and ribs, as well as their distinctive and tasty black pudding.
Martyn is a first-generation pig farmer who believes in doing things a little differently, producing a higher quality product in high welfare conditions.
Superior, sustainable products
In order to produce pork of superior quality, Buttercross remove all unnecessary processes to create their array of delicious products, taking things back to basics for the very best results.
Martyn says: “We chose to partner with 44 Foods because they share our ethics and seek to provide a superior, sustainable product. Once most farmers get big, they tend to cheapen their products, but 44 Foods wants people to buy high quality fresh products and they offer all sorts of produce. It’s a great concept that we wanted to be involved in and a great sign of hope for the future.”
Buttercross pigs are reared outdoor with space and care
They are born inside, to provide protection and a stronger start to life, then moved outside for the vast majority of their lives with plenty of space, care and freedom. They are fed exclusively a vegetarian, cereal-based diet, without growth promotors, GM products or routine use of antibiotic.
