Six weeks to go
Start drawing up your shopping list. Whether you’re considering rule-of-six catering or have a cosy couple’s Christmas planned, there’s no harm in getting a head start on thinking about how you want to shape your festive period. In this year of unknowns, it also wouldn’t hurt to throw a few small alternatives/additions into the plan, just in case travel restrictions tighten.

Five weeks to go
Stir up Sunday is traditionally the time to make your Christmas pudding. This year it falls on Sunday 22 November, so get your ingredients ahead of time, bring the family together and give everyone the chance to make a wish as they stir the pudding. Don’t forget to add a coin so that whoever finds it is granted a year of good luck. If it’s kept airtight, your pudding can be kept for up to three months. Or count on the professionals for a pudding to savour and choose from our upcoming selection (arriving in November).

Four weeks to go
The most special gifts are often the ones that have lots of thought behind them. Why not put together a hamper for family members or friends, filled a with a selection of tasty treats, homemade goodies, gifts, wines and decorations? Discover our decadent chocolate range from Cocoba.

Three weeks to go
How are you doing so far? Have you posted the cards and are you well underway with your present buying/making? If so, now’s the time to think about those little surprises that can trip us up – have you stocked up on extra nibbles in case someone unexpectedly pops round and is there a wrapped up box of chocolates under the tree for that person who brings a surprise gift?

Two weeks to go
Decide on your canapes, snacks and drinks, and make sure there’s space in the fridge and freezer! Don’t forget the little extras that make it special – amazing stocks from PottsTracklements’ range of delicious sauces, mustards and jellies, or rich oils from Cotswold Gold.

Christmas Eve
Make your starter and stuffing, precook or prep your side dishes and organise tomorrow morning’s breakfast. Don’t forget to put the fizz in the fridge!

Christmas Day
Relax. You made it! Make sure the washing up is delegated to someone else, take the dog on a wintry walk or find a cosy corner by the fire. Merry Christmas!
