Celebrating Easter in style
Easter is just around the corner and, while we’ll still be in lockdown, there’s no reason not to treat yourself to a feast to remember.
People all over the world are looking forward to celebrating Easter at the start of April. One of the most common traditions, of course, is gathering the family together around the dinner table for a special meal.
In Greece, you might enjoy mageiritsa – or Easter soup – a stew of chopped lamb liver and wild greens seasoned with egg and lemon sauce.
Celebrating Easter traditions
In parts of Italy, they bake casatiello or tortano, a savoury pie made with bread dough stuffed with salami and cheese. And in many Eastern European communities, a special breakfast revolves around eating from a blessed food basket. It might contain specially baked Easter bread, ham or bacon, cheese and eggs, all eaten for their symbolic significance to the Easter story.
Here in the UK – while the kids most likely have their minds on chocolate – if you’re preparing the Easter meal, you might be thinking about sitting down for a lunch with roast lamb as the centrepiece.
Sadly, for most of us, current restrictions mean it won’t be a meal enjoyed with your extended family and friends. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t push the boat out for everyone in your household.
Sustainably sourced
Here at 44 Foods, we have some fabulous, sustainably sourced cuts of lamb. Depending on how many are eating, we can deliver a Scotch boneless leg, rolled shoulder, or a superb whole leg. If there’s just a couple of you, you might opt for a rack of lamb.
Team your meat with some of our superb seasonal veg – Chantenay carrots, purple sprouting broccoli, bright baby corn. Then add in a jar of Tracklements Traditional Mint Sauce. If you’d prefer to make your own, you can add fresh mint to your order.
It’s great fun looking through the rich range of ingredients we have on the 44 Foods website. But if you’d prefer, you can simplify it all with our brilliant bundle – we’ll deliver everything you need to create a classic roast lamb dinner with our perfect dinner for four.
Whatever you’re up to, and whatever’s on your plate, have a safe and peaceful Easter.
