British brilliance with our springtime produce

We know how changeable the British weather can be – and our seasonal climate is just the ticket for a fantastic variety of food that’s produced to some of the highest standards in the world.

From super quality standards to supporting our farmers and the environment – there are plenty of reasons to make sure your food shopping basket is choc full of British goodness, especially now spring has sprung and we have lots of sensational seasonal produce to offer.

Here at 44 Foods, we’re hugely proud that we’re doing our bit to support British producers – all year round.

Choosing British food means enjoying the richly diverse and delicious food that our beautiful countryside and seasonal climate produces, while helping our farmers and communities.

Now’s an ideal time to be thinking about getting in some fab food from our great British suppliers. If all goes to plan, lockdown rules will be eased again on 17 May, and we’ll be able to meet indoors for the first time in what seems like ages – so, cooking for small gatherings will hopefully be back on the menu. And now the weather’s getting warmer and brighter, we can continue to eat al fresco, too!

How about a fish supper on a balmy spring day? Our British fish range is healthy and landed in a sustainable way. With so many wild species abundant in our coastal waters, we’re on a mission to get more people exploring and loving brilliant British fish.

Then of course there’s the joy of a sweet or savoury salad to bring the freshness and the flavour, and we have a wonderful range of fruit and vegetables to add to the mix. Our British Fruit and Veg Bundle offers the best of both worlds, or you can explore our separate salad items such as juicy British Heritage tomatoesapples and fresh herbs and spices. Don’t forget to try our springtime superstars too, with seasonal treats like our bright British rhubarbcucumbersasparagus and Jersey royal new potatoes.

If we’re lucky enough to have a spot of sunshine then a barbecue is an absolute must. Bring your family and friends together (lockdown restrictions permitting) with some marvellous meats while also supporting British – you can try JW Galloway’s Aberdeen Angus steak burgers for size, give Adlington’s BBQ marinated chicken wings a go, and indulge in Buttercross Farm Foods’ pork and leek thick sausages.

You can get some more ideas for outdoors dining here.

Whatever the weather, and whatever you’re planning to cook, be sure to think British. Food from our own shores is produced to some of the highest standards in the world, together with some of the most robust food assurance and traceability systems globally.

You’ll be supporting the economy too – from our farmers to the people who work in food processing – and playing your part in protecting our environment, as much of Britain’s food is produced in a sustainable way that enhances the countryside. So, be sure to shop British this spring and support our suppliers and their seasonal and sustainable produce.
